In Judaism, today is the first day of the 8 day Hanukkah celebration.
ハヌカのお祝いについて少し説明したいと思います。

I want to explain a little about the Hanukkah celebration.
However, I want to preface, I am not Jewish, and have never celebrated Hanukkah before.
I don't have firsthand experience, so my information is just from doing research online.

If I'm not Jewish and don't celebrate Hanukkah, why do I want to talk about it?
Because, as an American, I feel it is an important part of American culture.
Growing up, Hanukkah has always had a presence in America during the holiday season.
In fact, in the world, most Jewish people live in the United States.
ハヌカのお祝いは、11 月から 12 月の間のどこからでも開始できます。
古いヘブライ暦によって決定され、毎年変更されます。
今年、2022 年は 12 月 18 日（日）に開始し、12 月 26 日（月）に終了します。

The Hanukkah celebration can start anywhere between November and December.
Its determined by the old Hebrew calendar and changes each year.
This year, in 2022, it will begin on Sunday, December 18th and finish on Monday, December 26th.
It is often referred to as the Festival of Lights.

Each day has a special meaning and activity associated with it.

Nowadays, specifically in America, it has been closely associated with Christmas.
According to the Jewish religion, Hanukkah wasn't originally a major holiday.
However, it has become a symbol of Jewish identity in the United States.
ハヌカはクリスマスと重なることが多いため、20 世紀初頭のユダヤ人は、アメリカで広く普及しているクリスマスのお祝いの代わりとしてハヌカを使用しました。

Synagogues would often host events with singing, games, and food.
Popular Hanukkah games include a spinning top called a dreidel.

Someday, I would like to experience a Hanukkah celebration and enjoy the Jewish culture.
