Before "Total Eclipse of the Heart" she had experienced success as a musician.
In the 1980's she wanted to venture into the world of rock ballads and approached Jimmy Steinman after hearing the band Meatloaf perform the song "Bat Out of Hell" which was written by Steinman.

Steinman says the song is about darkness, the power of darkness, and love's place in the dark.

いつぞやの「サソリとカエルの寓話」のこと、時たまふっと思うことがあります。
何かこちらが思うようにならなかった時とか・・・etc、なんでそうなのかな、とか、
そういう時は「そういう風に産み付けられているのかな」って相手をそう思うと妙に納得できることが多いです。「やりたくてそうやってるんじゃないよね、きっと」ナンテ( *´艸｀)
