ハロウィンまで待ったほうがいいかと思いましたが、悪魔に関する話題はハロウィンとは関係ありません。
実は、月末までにまとめるつもりです。
とりあえず、悪魔に関する別の話を紹介したいと思います。
今回はロボットが登場する漫画です。
フューチュラマのエピソード「Hell Is Other Robots」についてお話ししましょう。

For now, I want to introduce you to another story about the Devil.
This time in the form of a cartoon featuring a robot.
Let's talk about Futurama's episode "Hell Is Other Robots.".

実は、まだ完全に取り組む準備ができていませんが、この特定のエピソードを見てみたいと思います。
ただし、基本的なことは説明します。

ここで取り上げるエピソードは、1999 年 5 月 18 日に放映されたシーズン 1、エピソード 9 です。
Talking about the show Futurama is a big task!
In fact, it's not something I'm fully ready to tackle, but I'd like to take a look at this one specific episode.
However, I'll give you some basics.
Futurama first aired on March 28th, 1999, and ran for 9 seasons.
The episode we are looking at is from season 1, episode 9, which aired on May 18th, 1999.
エピソードのタイトル「地獄は他のロボット」は、ジャン＝ポール・サルトルの劇「出口なし」の有名なセリフ「地獄は他人だ」のパロディです。
エピソードでは、主人公の一人であるヒューマノイドロボットのベンダーがビースティ・ボーイズのコンサートの後、古い友人たちとパーティーを始めます。
ベンダーはドラッグを暗示する電気を使い始め、中毒になります。
問題を抱えていることに気づいた彼は助けを求め、サイエントロジーのパロディである「ロボット学の寺院」を見つけます。
ベンダーは新しい宗教を受け入れ、油で洗礼を受けます。つまり、罪を犯せば地獄に行くということです。

The title of the episode, "Hell Is Other Robots," is a parody of Jean-Paul Sartre's famous line "Hell is other people" from his play No Exit.
In the episode, one of the main characters, Bender, a humanoid robot, begins to party with his old friends after a Beastie Boys concert.
Bender begins using electricity, which is an allusion to drugs, and becomes addicted.
Realizing he has a problem, he seeks help and finds the "Temple of Robotology," which is a parody of Scientology.
Bender accepts his new religion and gets baptized in oil, meaning that if he sins, he will now go to hell.
However, Bender's true nature is that of a sinner, and he eventually succumbs to his old ways of alcohol, prostitutes, and theft.
罪深い行いの後、ベンダーはロボット地獄と呼ばれる場所で目を覚まします。
ここで彼はロボット悪魔に出会います。
友人たちが彼を救おうとすると、ミュージカルが始まり、ベンダーはダンテの地獄篇のように彼を待ち受ける罰を見せられます。

After his sinful deeds, Bender awakes in a place called Robot Hell.
It is here that he meets the Robot Devil.
As his friends attempt to rescue him, a musical number starts and Bender is shown the punishments that await him, ala Dante's Inferno.
When Bender's friends finally find him, they learn that the only way he can be saved is by a loophole in the contract that says if they can beat the Robot Devil in a fiddle contest, they can leave.
Unfortunately, none of them can play the fiddle, so they instead use the solid gold fiddle as a weapon to bludgeon the Robot Devil as they make their escape.

"Hell Is Other Robots" is one of the most memorable episodes of the entire series.
The series creator, Matt Groening, has said it's one of his favorite episodes of the first 4 seasons.
Upon airing, it received high praise from both critics and viewers alike.
Although I've only watched Futurama sporadically, in all of the episodes that I've seen, this is one I always remember and really enjoyed.
エピソードの説明から明らかでなかったとしても、フューチュラマはコメディーアニメであり、おそらく史上最高の作品の 1 つです。

If it wasn't apparent from the episode description, Futurama is a comedy cartoon and perhaps one of the greatest ever created.
Each episode is jampacked with jokes and satire.
Admittedly, I haven't watched the series from start to finish, but whenever I did watch it, I always enjoyed it.
I hope to revisit Futurama again in another blog post, but for now, let's enjoy Bender's journey through Robot Hell.
