アニメは今やかつてないほど人気がありますが、美学とストーリーテリングのピークは間違いなく80年代と90年代でした。

Anime has become quite popular around the world.
Unfortunately, as its popularity increased, I feel the quality began to decrease.
Although anime is more popular than ever now, the peak in aesthetic and storytelling was definitely during the 80's and 90's.
So today, let's talk about an influential anime from the 80s that I feel is overlooked.
This is Kimagure Orange Road!

この物語は18巻にまとめられ、集英社から出版されています。
このシリーズは日本で瞬く間に大ヒットし、2,000万冊以上を売り上げました！
アメリカではあまり知られていませんでしたが、『オレンジロード』はヨーロッパ市場で大きな影響力を持ち、『ドラゴンボール』とともに新しい視聴者にアニメや漫画を紹介したと評価されています。
Kimagure Orange Road is a manga that was written by Matsumoto Izumi for Shonen Jump magazine from 1984 to 1987.
The story has been collected into 18 volumes and published by Shueisha.
The series was an instant success in Japan, selling over 20 million volumes!
Despite being relatively unknown in America, Orange Road was highly influential in the European market, credited alongside Dragon Ball as introducing anime and manga to new audiences.
物語は、超能力を持つ春日恭介という少年を追う。
彼の家族は超能力を持っていたため、彼らは引っ越しをしなければならず、現在は7番目の場所にいる。
恭介はまどかという少女と出会い、麦わら帽子を譲ってもらい、それがきっかけで彼女に恋をする。

The story follows a boy named Kyōsuke Kasuga who has esper powers.
Due to his family possessing these powers, they had to move homes and are now on their seventh location.
Kyōsuke meets a young girl, Madoka, who offers him her straw hat, which causes him to fall in love with her.
Later, Kyōsuke learns that Madoka is a student at his new junior high school.
Kyōsuke begins dating another girl, Hikaru, but continues to struggle with his feelings for Madoka.

One of the first is the character of Madoka, who begins the series with a stern personality but gradually becomes kinder over time.
This character trait has become known as tsundere.
Orange Road also used the idea of a time loop plot device in one of their episodes, predating the popular movie Groundhog Day (1993) and the anime film Urusei Yatsura 2: Beautiful Dreamer (1984).

Before even knowing the name of the series, I saw the artwork and fell in love with it.
I knew that I needed to watch this series at some point.
So, I finally took steps to make it happen and purchased the series on Blu-ray.
I'm looking forward to enjoying Kimagure Orange Road!
