Lonnie Rashid Lynn, better known by his stage name, Common, is a Grammy Award-winning American rapper.
He released his first album in 1992 at age 20, where he began to build a following.
In the late 90s he began to reach mainstream success, which led to him being signed to a major record label.
Fast forward to 2016, and Common is releasing his 11th studio album titled Black America Again.

Due to the political divide and tension in America, the album acted as a deep critique on many of the issues facing the country, making it an album that required your attention when listening.
It was supported by two singles, "Love Star" and "Black America Again.".
Alongside receiving praise from critics upon release, it debuted at number 25 on the US Billboard 200.

With so many strong tracks, it's hard to pick one that stands above the rest, but for me, I enjoyed "The Day Women Took Over.".
I remember hearing this song for the first time and feeling just how deep the meaning was.
The song is mostly focused on Black women and how Common feels they deserve more respect from Black men.
However, I feel this song can apply to all women.
I would like to see a world that was equally influenced by women instead of our patriarchal society.
