前回の投稿では、悪魔との戦いについてお話ししました。
これは、似たような前提を持つ別の曲を思い出させました。
ただし、前回の曲はカントリー ソングでしたが、この曲はロック ソングです。
音楽のジャンルの変更は悪魔を助けるのでしょうか、それとも悪魔の邪悪な意図は再び阻止されるのでしょうか。
「Tribute」という曲を通して調べてみましょう。
In the previous post, I talked about a battle against the devil.
This reminded me of another song with a similar premise.
However, the previous song was a country song where as this one is a rock song.
Will a change in musical genre help the devil or will his evil intentioned be thwarted again.
Let's find out through the song "Tribute".
「トリビュート」は、テネイシャス D のセルフタイトルのファーストアルバムからの 2 番目のシングルです。
2002 年 2 月 11 日にアメリカでリリースされましたが、あまりヒットしませんでした。
テネイシャス D は、ジャック ブラックとカイル ガスの 2 人のメンバーからなるコメディ ロック バンドです。
"Tribute" is the second single off the self-titled first album by Tenacious D.
It was released on February 11th, 2002 in America to little success.
Tenacious D is a comedy rock band composed of two members, Jack Black and Kyle Gass.
アメリカではそれほど成功しなかったものの、「トリビュート」は2002年6月22日にオーストラリアでもリリースされました。
そこでこの曲はファンからより多くの支持を得ました。
この曲はオーストラリアで4位、ニュージーランドで9位を記録しました。
オランダとイギリスでも一定の成功を収めました。
Despite not finding much success in the United States, "Tribute" was also released overseas in Australia on June 22nd, 2002.
It was there that the song gained more support from fans.
The song peaked at number 4 in Australia and number 9 in New Zealand.
It also saw some success over in the Netherlands and United Kingdom.
前の曲「The Devil Went Down to Georgia」と同様に、この曲は悪魔との遭遇について歌っている。
ジャックとカイルは悪魔に襲われ、「世界一の歌」を演奏しなければ魂を食べられる運命だと迫られる。
失うものは何もないので、ジャックとカイルは「頭に最初に浮かんだ歌」を演奏し始める。それは「たまたま世界一の歌だった」。
ジャックは「Tribute」の歌詞で「あの運命の夜に歌った歌は、実際にはこの歌とはまったく似ていなかった」と述べている。
「Tribute」は世界一の歌について歌っているが、その歌が何なのかは実際にはわからない。
Much like with the previous song "The Devil Went Down to Georgia", the song is about an encounter with a demon.
Jack and Kyle are accosted by a demon demanding they play "the best song in the world" or suffer the fate of having their souls eaten.
With nothing to lose, Jack and Kyle begin to play "the first thing that came to our heads", which "just so happened to be the best song in the world."
Jack describes in the lyrics of "Tribute" that "The song we sang on that fateful night — it didn't actually sound anything like this song."
Although "Tribute" is about the greatest song in the world, we don't actually know what that song is.

悪魔を演じるのは、フー・ファイターズのミュージシャン仲間で友人のデイヴ・グロール。
ミュージックビデオはショッピングモールで撮影されており、アメリカ人俳優のベン・スティラー、リンダ・ポーター、JRリードなどの通行人が映っている。
このビデオは、特にイギリスで複数の賞にノミネートされるなど、海外でより大きな成功を収めた。
The music video for "Tribute" is also particularly interesting due to the number of cameos that seemingly go unnoticed throughout.
The demon is played by fellow musician and friend Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters.
As the music video takes place in a mall, there are passerby's including American actor Ben Stiller, Linda Porter, and JR Reed.
The video, again, saw more success overseas, especially in the United Kingdom where it was nominated for multiple awards.
私はテネイシャス D の大ファンではなかったが、子供の頃は「トリビュート」という曲が好きだった。
テネイシャス D はゆっくりと米国でファン層を築き上げ、コメディバンドとしてはかなりの人気を博した。
ジャック・ブラックの人気もバンドの成功に貢献したかもしれない。
しかし今は、悪魔が再び報いを受け、2 人が世界最高の歌で悪魔をセレナーデするのを楽しみましょう。
Although I was never a big fan of Tenacious D, I did enjoy the song "Tribute" as a kid.
Tenacious D slowly built up a fanbase in the United States and became quite popular for a comedy band.
Jack Black's popularity might have contributed to the bands success as well.
But now, lets enjoy watching the devil get his due again and the duo serenades him with the greatest song in the world.
