Such as today's topic, poinsettia!
12月いっぱいこの植物を見たことがある方も多いと思いますが、なぜクリスマスの植物と考えられているのでしょうか?
ポインセチアの歴史を詳しく見てみましょう！
I'm sure many of you have seen this plant throughout December, but why is it considered a Christmas plant?
Lets take a closer look at the history of poinsettia!
物語は16世紀に始まります。
メキシコでは、人々がイエスの誕生日を祝うために贈り物を集めていました。
一人の女の子は貧しくて贈り物をする余裕がなかったので、天使は彼女に、道端から雑草を集めて教会の祭壇に置くように言いました。
その後、雑草は赤い葉を出し始め、ポインセチアになりました。
それ以来、この植物はクリスマスのお祝いに使用されてきました。
The story starts in the 16th century.
In Mexico, people were gatherings gifts for the celebration of Jesus's birthday.
One girl was too poor to afford a gift, so an angel told her to gather weeds from the roadside and place them at the church altar.
The weeds then began to sprout red leaves and become poinsettias.
Since then, the plant has been used in Christmas celebrations.
星の形はベツレヘムの星と言われ、赤い色はイエスの磔刑の血の犠牲を表しています。
The star shape is said to be the Star of Bethlehem, and the red color represents the blood sacrifice of Jesus's crucifixion.
