もちろん、この日は年間最大のショッピングデーですが、テレビではクリスマス番組が大量に放映される日でもあります。
人気のクリスマススペシャルが数多く放映され、多くの番組がクリスマスをテーマにしたエピソードを初公開します。
これらの番組が終了しても、クリスマススペシャルは時代を超えて生き続けることがあります。
今日は、大人気のテレビ番組「The Office」のクリスマススペシャルをご紹介します。
Everyone year, in America, the Christmas season starts the day after Thanksgiving, or better known as Black Friday.
This, of course, is the biggest shopping day of the year, but also means the flood gates are open for Christmas programming on TV.
Many popular Christmas specials are aired along with many programs debuting Christmas oriented episodes.
Even after these shows ends, sometimes their Christmas specials live on through the ages.
Today, I want to share a Christmas special from a very popular TV called The Office.
「ザ・オフィス」は、コメディーの目的でドキュメンタリー風に作られたアメリカのシットコムで、2005 年 3 月から 2013 年 5 月まで放送されました。
この番組は大成功を収め、実際にアメリカのポップ カルチャーに根付いたと言っても過言ではありません。
しかし、今日は番組について詳しく説明しません。この番組は独自の記事を書く価値があるからです。ただ、クリスマスのエピソードを 1 つ取り上げたいと思います。
このエピソードはシーズン 2 のエピソードで、放送されたエピソードは 10 番目です。
タイトルはシンプルに「クリスマス パーティー」で、架空の製紙会社ダンダー ミフリンでクリスマス パーティーがうまくいかなかったときに起こるクレイジーな騒動を描いています。
The Office is an American sitcom, designed to look like a documentary for comedic purposes, that aired from March 2005 until May 2013.
It's an understatement to say that the show was a big success and in fact became imbedded into American pop culture.
However, today, I won't be going into detail about the show, as it deserves its own writeup, but I want to highlight one specific Christmas episode.
This episode comes from Season 2 and is the 10th episode that aired.
It's simply titled Christmas Party and portrays the crazy shenanigans that happen when a Christmas party goes wrong in the fictional paper company of Dunder Mifflin.
知っておくべき重要な登場人物は、ダンダー・ミフリン社のマネージャーであるマイケル・スコットです。
ジムは同社の営業担当者ですが、全力を尽くす意欲のない、成績の悪い人物です。
パムはオフィスの受付係で、婚約者の態度に常に不満を抱いており、ジムの恋人です。
最後に、同じく営業担当者であるドワイトですが、ジムとはまったく正反対の人物です。
Some important characters to know are Michael Scott, who is the manager of Dunder Mifflin.
Jim is a sales agent for the company but is an underachiever who doesn't feel motivated to give it his all.
Pam is the office receptionist, who is consistently dissatisfied with her fiancé's behavior and is the love interest of Jim.
Finally, there is Dwight, who is also a sales agent, but the complete antithesis to Jim.
ストーリーは、マイケルがオフィススタッフ全員に、20ドルの制限付きでシークレットサンタのプレゼント交換をすると告げるところから始まります。

The plot begins when Michael tells all the office staff that they will have a secret Santa gift exchange with a $20 limit.
Secret Santa is a game in which you secretly buy a gift for a designated person, but nobody knows who it's from.
During the game, Michael received a handknitted oven glove and is disappointed.
He then insists on changing the game to "Yankee Swap," which is a Christmas game that allows you to steal gifts from other people.
Everyone begins to compete for the iPod Michael bought, which far exceeded the $20 limit.
This leaves Jim disappointed when Pam trades away his thoughtful gift for the iPod.
In the end, Pam ends up with Jim's gift, and Michael tries to make up for the ruined Christmas game by buying vodka for the Christmas party, which is against office policy.
The party ends with Michael being exposed to a drunken staff's breasts, which goes on to create funny and awkward situations going forward.

I still remember watching The Office with my friends when it first aired on TV.
After the second season, the show really took off and was something that everybody seemed to be watching.
Throughout the series, there were many funny and memorable moments, but the Christmas episode definitely deserves a spot at the top.
If you're ever in the mood to watch an American sitcom, I recommend trying The Office.
