We are back with another classic Christmas TV special.
This time it features the famous Peanuts characters.
日本ではスヌーピーを知っている人も多いでしょう。
人気キャラでとても可愛いです。
ただし、スヌーピーはピーナッツと呼ばれるより大きなグループの一部です。
スヌーピーはチャーリー・ブラウンの愛犬です。
Many people in Japan are familiar with Snoopy.
He is a popular character and very cute.
However, Snoopy is part of a bigger group called Peanuts.
Snoopy is the dog belonging to Charlie Brown.
ピーナッツの歴史は非常に長くなるため、別の機会に保存する必要があります。

The idea for a Peanuts Christmas special was commissioned and sponsored by Coca-Cola.
The show was only given a small budget of $76,000, and actually went over by $20,000.

Schultz, the creator of Peanuts, wanted to stay away from commercialism in Christmas.
This became the central theme of the TV special.
Along with the unorthodox theme, Schultz took many approaches that were considered strange at the time.
For example, he used child voice actors instead of adults, he chose a jazz piano score for the soundtrack, he refused to use a laugh track, which was common place at the time, and finally, he added a verse from the bible into the story, tying it back to the origin of Christmas.
