Halloween day is creeping closer and the excitement is building!
キャンプファイヤーの周りに座って、幽霊の話をしたいと思ったことはありませんか?

Have you ever sat around a campfire before and wanted to tell ghost stories?
This is a popular image for American kids.
実際、90 年代初頭からこれに関するテレビ番組がありました。
それは「暗闇が怖いですか？」と呼ばれていました。
In fact, there was a TV show about this from the early 90s.
It was called "Are You Afraid of the Dark?"
1990 年 10 月 31 日のハロウィーンの日に初演されました。
ショーは成功し、子供たちは物語が大好きでした。
実際の子供たちを困難な状況に置き、それを克服する様子を見せました。
It premiered on Halloween Day, October 31st in 1990.
The show was a success and kids loved the stories.
It put real kids in difficult situations and showed them overcoming it.
各エピソードは、森のキャンプファイヤーから始まりました。
自らを「真夜中の会」と名乗る子供達が集う。
ストーリーテラーは、「ミッドナイト ソサエティの承認のために提出されました。このストーリーを「(ストーリー名)」と呼びます」と宣言します。
Each episode began at a campfire in a forest.
A group of kids calling themselves "The Midnight Society" would gather.
The storyteller would proclaim "Submitted for the approval of The Midnight Society, I call this story '(story name)'".
そこから物語が始まり、私たちはイベントが展開するのを見守っていました。
物語が終わったら、また子供たちに会います。
誰かが「このミッドナイト ソサエティの会議は閉会を宣言します」と言い、火に水をまきます。
From there, the story began and we would watch the events unfold.
Once the story finished, we would see the kids again.
Someone would say "I declare this meeting of The Midnight Society closed" and douse the fire with water.
ほとんどの場合、各ストーリーはハッピー エンドまたはグッド エンドで終わります。
しかし、場合によっては、ストーリーがねじれたり、悪い結末になったりすることがあります。
Most of the time, each story ended with a happy or good ending.
But sometimes, a story would have a twist or bad ending!
このシリーズは 5 シーズンにわたって放送され、1996 年に終了しました。
1999年にさらに2シーズン復活しました。
直近では2019年に復活し、現在も放送中。
The series ran for 5 seasons, concluding in 1996.
It was revived in 1999 for 2 more seasons.
Most recently it has been revived in 2019 and is still currently airing.
