私たちがここまで進んだことが信じられません。
子供の頃、2024 年がどんな年になるか想像もできませんでした。
私は空飛ぶ自動車と高度な文明を想像しました。
残念ながら、私たちはその現実からはほど遠いですが、私が感謝している現代の便利なものはまだたくさんあります。
Everyone, happy new year!
We have finally entered into 2024.
I can't believe how far we have come.
As a kid, I could never imagine what 2024 would be like.
I pictured flying cars and an advanced civilization.
Unfortunately, we are far away from that reality, but there are still many modern conveniences that I'm grateful for.

ただし、中国の暦によれば、旧正月は 2 月 10 日まで待たなければならないため、ウサギ年はもう少し長く楽しむことができます。
As you know, this is the year of the dragon!
However, according to the Chinese calendar, we must wait until February 10th until the Chinese New Year, so we can still enjoy the year of the rabbit a little longer.
昨年、私はあなたに多くのマペットキャラクターを紹介しました。
今年は何をテーマにしようか迷ったのですが、私が子供の頃楽しんでいたアメリカのホームコメディ番組をいくつか紹介したいと思いました。
多くの日本人はフレンズやフルハウスをよく知っていますが、他にも紹介したいものがたくさんあります。

Last year, I introduced many Muppet characters to you.
This year, I wasn't sure what topic to do, but I decided I want to introduce some American sitcom shows that I enjoyed growing up.
Many Japanese are familiar with Friends and Full House, but there are many others that I'd like to introduce.
Let's look forward to it!

Today, however, I want to tell you about the stubborn yet powerful zodiac sign.
Let's talk about Capricorn!

Capricorn is the 10th sign in the zodiac and lasts from December 22 to January 19.
Capricorn is an earth sign ruled by the planet Saturn.
Due to the signs type and planet ruling it is one of the stronger zodiac signs.

親や警察、職場の上司に似ていることが知られています。
この種のエネルギーは恐ろしいように聞こえるかもしれませんが、通常は、目標に対する勤勉さと献身という形で現れます。

Saturn is a planet that often gives a very authoritative energy.
It is known to be like a parent, police, or superior at work.
This type of energy can sound scary, but it usually manifests itself in the form of hard work and dedication to a goal.
Capricorn is also a cardinal sign, meaning it enjoys leading the way and having people follow their path.
ルール、構造、義務などというと、あまり面白くない人もいるかもしれませんが、社会が繁栄するためには必要なものです。
山羊座は外見的には厳しくて怖いように見えるかもしれませんが、内面では賞賛と愛を切望していることがよくあります。
山羊座に適切な場所で心からの褒め言葉を与えると、山羊座の心は温かくなります。
Rules, structure, and obligations might not sound exciting for some, but they are necessary for society to thrive.
Although Capricorn may seem strict and scary on the outside, often they crave praise and love on the inside.
Giving a well-placed and sincere compliment to a Capricorn will warm their heart.

Most people are familiar with the goat as the symbol for Capricorn, and this is correct, but in ancient times the symbol was a hybrid of a goat and fish.
This image can be traced back to the Bronze age where the Babylonians used it as a symbol for their god, Enki.
In Greek mythology, Capricorn is sometimes referred to Amalthea, the goat that gave Zeus milk.
Amalthea's horn was later transformed into the cornucopia or "horn of plenty".
私の親友の2人は山羊座です。

Two of my best friends growing up are Capricorns.
I have a lot of respect for this sign as I value hard work and ambition.
I was even lucky enough to date a Capricorn woman once.
It was one of the most amazing relationships I was ever in.
I have a great deal of respect for her, but I couldn't live up to her strict nature.
However, I often look back on that relationship with tender fondness.
