これを作成したのは、ジェームス・ネイスミスという人です。
それ以来、世界で最も人気があり、広く視聴されるスポーツの 1 つになりました。
今日は3月に行われるバスケットボールイベントについてお話したいと思います。
これは NCAA ディビジョン I 男子バスケットボール トーナメント、別名マーチ マッドネスです。
Basketball is a relatively new sport first being played about 132 years ago.
It was created by a man named James Naismith.
Since then, it has become one of the world's most popular and widely viewed sports.
Today, I want to tell you about a basketball event that takes place in March.
This is the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament AKA March Madness!
マーチ マッドネスは、全米大学体育協会のディビジョン I レベルの男子大学バスケットボール全国チャンピオンを決定するために米国で行われるシングルエリミネーション トーナメントです。
トーナメントは主に 3 月に開催されるため、マーチ マッドネスと呼ばれていました。
このトーナメントは 1938 年に始まり、68 チームが競い合います。
長年にわたり、このトーナメントはさまざまな番狂わせやサプライズがあることで知られています。
現在では米国最大のスポーツイベントの一つとなっています。
March Madness is a single-elimination tournament played in the United States to determine the men's college basketball national champion of the Division I level in the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
Due to the tournament taking place mainly in March it was dubbed March Madness.
The tournament began in 1938 and 68 teams compete against each other.
Throughout the years, the tournament has been known for its various upsets and surprises.
It is now one of the biggest sporting events in the United States.
トーナメントの全試合はNCAA March Madnessという番組名で放送される。
パラマウント・グローバルとワーナー・ブラザースは2032年まで放映権契約を結んでおり、その特権に対して年間8億9,100万ドルを支払っている。
稼いだお金は、順位に応じて参加チームに分配され、大学スポーツ界に多大な資金を提供します。

The money earned is distributed to participating teams based on how far they advance, which provides significant funding for college athletics.
The tournament has become part of American popular culture through bracket contests that award money and prizes for correctly predicting the outcomes of the most games.
It is estimated that tens of millions of Americans, including those who do not follow regular-season college basketball or sports in general, participate in a bracket contest each year.
トーナメントの儀式として、優勝チームは地方選手権試合と全国選手権試合の終了時にネットを切ります。
年長者から始めてクラスごとに、プレーヤーはそれぞれのネットから 1 本の糸を切り取ります。 ヘッドコーチはネットとフープを繋ぐ最後の糸を切り、ネットそのものを主張する。
As a tournament ritual, the winning team cuts down the nets at the end of regional championship games as well as the national championship game.
Starting with the seniors, and moving down by classes, players each cut a single strand off each net; the head coach cuts the last strand connecting the net to the hoop, claiming the net itself.
正直に言うと、私はバスケットボールについてはあまり詳しくありません。
今までバスケットボールの試合を見たことがなかったのですが、最近は見てみたいと思っています！
日本でもバスケットボールの人気は年々高まっており、その盛り上がりを実感しています！

To be honest, I really don't know much about basketball.
I have never watched a basketball game before but recently, I want to!
Basketball has been becoming more popular in Japan year by year and I can feel the excitement!
Although I don't watch basketball there is another basketball event in America that I do like.
