In Japan, many people are excited for the change of seasons.
Enjoying the season and the new seasonal food is a common pastime.
Fall is known for chestnuts and sweet potatoes!
アメリカには、独自の季節の食べ物や地域の食べ物もあります。
今日はアメリカ南部で人気の秋の砂漠についてお話したいと思います！

America also has it's own seasonal and regional foods!
Today I want to tell you about a fall desert that is popular in southern part of America!
Have you ever heard of pecan pie?
ほとんどの食品と同様、その正確な起源を追跡することは困難な場合があります。
最古のレシピは、1886 年の『Bazaar』というタイトルのアメリカの雑誌に掲載されています。
オリジナルのレシピでは、卵、牛乳、砂糖、ピーカンナッツが使用されていました。
As with most foods, it can be difficult to trace the exact origins.
The earliest recipe can be found in an 1886 American magazine titled Bazaar.
The original recipes used eggs, milk, sugar, and pecans.
1930 年代頃、コーン シロップの発明により、ピーカン パイの人気が爆発的に高まり始めました。
カロ シロップという名前のブランドは、コーン シロップを主原料として宣伝し、ピーカン パイの人気に大きく貢献しました。
1940 年代から 1950 年代までに、パイはピーカンナッツが生育するアメリカ南部と強く結びつき始めました。
感謝祭とクリスマスは、伝統的にピーカンパイが提供される 2 つの主要なイベントです。
実際、この 2 つの祝日は非常に関連付けられるようになり、文学や映画で多くの言及が見られるようになりました。
Around the 1930s and with the invention of corn syrup, pecan pie began to explode in popularity.
A brand by the name of Karo Syrup, contributed greatly to the popularity of pecan pie, promoting their corn syrup as a main ingredient.
By the 1940s and 1950s the pie began heavily associated with the American south where pecans grow.
Thanksgiving and Christmas are two of the major events where pecan pie is traditionally served.
In fact, it became so associated with the two holidays that many references in literature and movies began to appear.

I remember when I first had pecan pie as a kid.
It was during thanksgiving.
It quickly became my favorite dessert and I would often request it.
However, I haven't had pecan pie in over 15 years now.
I wonder if I would still enjoy it today.
