今日は、子供の頃からのゲームを皆さんと共有したいと思います。
ただし、これはビデオ ゲームではなく、アーケード ゲームです。
Today, I want to share a game with you from my childhood.
However, it's not a video game, but rather an arcade game!
アメリカではコインゲームが多い場所を「アーケード」と言います。
これが日本が「ゲームセンター」と呼んでいるものです。
In America, "arcade" is used to refer to a place with many coin operated games.
This is what Japan calls "game centers".
アーケードは、80 年代と 90 年代にアメリカで非常に人気がありました。
子供の頃、私のお気に入りの場所は地元のアーケードでした。
私はよく、さまざまな種類のゲームをプレイしていました。
私がとてもよく覚えているのは、Wacky Gator と呼ばれるものです。
Arcades were very popular in the 80s and 90s in America.
As a kid, my favorite place to go was the local arcade.
I would often play all different kinds of games!
There is one that I remember really well, it was called Wacky Gator.
日本ではワニワニパニックとして今も人気があり、ご存知の方も多いと思います。
英語名は言葉遊びです。
「Wacky」はクレイジーまたはばかげたという意味もありますが、物で何かを打つことを意味する「whack」という言葉にも似ています。
Wacky Gator の目標は、マレットで狂ったワニを打つことです。
Many of you will be familiar with this game, as it was and still is popular in Japan under the name of Wani Wani Panic.
The English name is a play on words.
"Wacky" can mean crazy or silly, but is also similar to the word "whack" which means to hit something with an object.
The goal of Wacky Gator is to hit the crazy alligators with a mallet.
私はこのゲームをするのが大好きで、手を使ってよくカンニングをしていました。
ワニにぶつかるたびに、ワニは「うわー」と叫びます。
最後に、ワニは「今、私は怒っている！」と宣言して怒ります。
この後、たくさんのワニが一斉に出てきました。
I loved playing this game, and would often cheat by using my hands.
Each time you hit an alligator it would scream "ow".
Finally, the gator would become angry proclaiming "Now I'm angry!".
After this, many gators would come out all at once.
このゲームは、1988 年にナムコという日本の会社によって作成されました。
データイーストと呼ばれる別の日本の会社は、1990年にそれをアメリカに持ち込みました。
アートワークと名前は変更されましたが、ゲームは同じままでした。
The game was created by the Japanese company called Namco in 1988.
Another Japanese company called Data East would bring it to America in 1990.
The artwork and name were changed, but the game was still the same.
最近、サンストリートでこのゲームの新しいバージョンを見つけました。
このゲームをもう一度プレイしてみたい！
Recently, I found a new version of this game at Sun Street.
I want to try playing this game again!
