The actual cherry blossoms are blooming and everything is beautiful.
The weather is feeling nice as well.
This time of year I'm often drawn to a special song.
I do not doubt that many of you are already familiar with it.
Today, let's talk about Yumi Matsutoya's Haru yo, Koi!
松任谷由実は、日本で最も著名で成功したシンガーソングライターの一人です。
彼女は1954年1月19日、東京都八王子市に生まれました。
Yumi Matsutoya is one of Japan's most prominent and successful singers and songwriters.
She was born in Hachiōji, Tokyo on January 19th, 1954.
「春よ、来い」は1994年10月にユミの26枚目のシングルとしてリリースされました。
発売以来、春を代表する人気曲の一つとなっています。
Haru yo, Koi was released in October of 1994 as Yumi's 26th single.
Since its release, it has become one of the most popular songs during the spring season.
この曲はもともと同名のドラマのオープニングテーマとして使われていました。
すぐに大ヒットし、コマーシャルから卒業式まであらゆるシーンで使用されました。
オリコンチャートで最高1位を記録し、1994年には47位、1995年には49位となった。
「春よ、恋」は、1995年にYumiの26枚目のアルバム「The Dancing Sun」に収録され、1995年の第3位のアルバムとなりました。
The song was originally used as the opening theme for a drama with the same name.
It quickly became a smash hit and was used in everything from commercials to graduation ceremonies.
It peaked at number 1 on the Oricon charts and became the 47th-ranked song of 1994 and the 49th in 1995.

初めて聴いたときは感動しました！
その繊細で美しく心に残る曲に私は夢中になり、何日も繰り返し聴きました。
さて、春が来るたびに、この素晴らしい曲で気分を高めたいと思います。

Because I didn't grow up in Japan I had only discovered this song about 4 years ago.
When I first heard it, I was mesmerized!
Its delicate and beautifully haunting tune had me hooked and I listened to it on repeat for days.
Now, whenever spring is here I like to get into the mood with this wonderful song!
