Halloween has come and gone.
But that doesn't mean we can't still wear some fancy clothes.

When I was young, this was very important for me.
I loved clothes, going out, and potentially meeting new people!

特に派手な服も持っていない。
年齢を重ねるにつれて、高価な服にお金をかける必要性を感じなくなりました。
でも、いつかはグッチのスーツを持ってみたい！
そしてバーバリーのピーコート。
もしかしたら今でも派手な服が好きなのかもしれません（笑）
Nowadays, I still enjoy going out, but I prefer going to sleep early.
I don't particularly have any fancy clothes either.
As I've gotten older, I don't feel the need to spend money on expensive clothes.
However, someday, I would like to own a Gucci suit!
And a Burberry pea coat.
Maybe I still do like fancy clothes... lol

I'd like to introduce a song that talks about wearing fancy clothes and going out to town.
Today, we will be "Puttin' On The Ritz".
元々は 1927 年にアーヴィング バーリンによって書かれ、1929 年 12 月 2 日に出版されました。
この曲は 1930 年の同名の映画でも使用されました。
プッティン・オン・ザ・リッツとは、格別にファッショナブルな服装をすることを意味する「リッツを着る」に由来する（当時の）俗語表現です。
この表現はロンドンの高級ホテル、リッツから生まれました。
Originally written in 1927 by Irving Berlin, it was published on December 2, 1929.
The song would go on to be used in the 1930 film with the same name.
Puttin' on the Ritz is a slang expression (of the time) derived from "to put on the Ritz" meaning to dress exceptionally fashionably.
The expression came about from the high-class Ritz Hotel in London.
当時多くのミュージシャンがこの曲のバージョンを録音しましたが、この曲と最も密接に関係しているのはフレッド・アステアとハリー・リッチマンでした。
当時の各レコードレーベルはこの曲の独自バージョンを持っており、それがその人気の証拠でした。
ハリー・リッチマンのバージョンは後にベストセラー・レコードとなった。
Many musicians of the time recorded versions of the song, but it was Fred Astaire and Harry Richman with whom it would be most closely associated.
Every record label at the time had its own version of the song, which was proof of its popularity.
Harry Richman's version would go on to become the best-selling record.

The song saw a small resurgence in the 1970's and a massive boost in the 1980's.
In 1982, a Dutch musician named Taco recorded a synthesized version of the song.
It's this this version that I am most familiar with.
The song topped the charts in numerous countries including the United States peaking at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100.
This was during the time MTV started and a music video had been released alongside the song.
The music video has since been banned by many networks due to its usage of blackface actors.
