今日は8月も最終日です！
休暇も終わり、みんないつもの日常に戻りました。
私の考えでは、8月末が非公式には夏の終わりです。
もちろん9月はまだとても暑いですが、夏という感じではありません。
Today is the last day of August!
Vacations are over and everybody is back to their usual routine.
In my mind, the end of August is the unofficial end of summer.
Of course September is still very hot, but it just doesn't feel like summer.

Let's end August on a high note with another wonderful summer song!
We talked about The Beach Boys before.
They were an American rock band that were big in the 1960's.
However, the song we will talk about today debuted in the 1980's.
Let's talk about Kokomo!
元々は若き日のトム・クルーズ主演の映画『カクテル』のために書かれた『ココモ』は、1988年7月18日にシングルとしてリリースされた。
この曲は大ヒットとなり、アメリカとオーストラリアの両方でビルボードトップ100で1位を獲得した。
この曲のミュージックビデオが作成され、ホームコメディ『フルハウス』のジョン・ステイモスも出演しています。
Originally written for the film Cocktail, starring a young Tom Cruise, Kokomo was released as a single on July 18th, 1988.
The song was a massive hit, topping the number 1 spot on the Billboard top 100 in both America and Australia.
A music video was created for the song and even features John Stamos from the sitcom Full House.
この曲はリリースされるとすぐにヒットしたが、多くの批評家はビーチ・ボーイズの最悪の曲の一つだと酷評した。

Upon its release, it was an instant hit, however, many critics panned it, saying it was one of the Beach Boys worst songs.

Despite these criticisms, it was still a hit, and the general public loved it!

彼らは多くの島国について歌っていますが、フロリダキーズ沖にあるココモという名前の架空の島について話しています。
The concept of the song is about two lovers wishing to go on a island vacation.
They sing about many island countries but talk about the fictitious island off the Florida Keys named Kokomo.
私の父はビーチボーイズの大ファンで、この曲がラジオからかかるとよく一緒に歌っていたのを覚えています。
My dad was a big fan of the Beach Boys and I remember he would often sing along to this song when it would come on the radio.
