「Bored in the USA」とは違い、この曲は風刺的ではなく、よりコミカルです。
今回は、ルールや権威に興味がない若い世代に注目します。

コメディパンクロックソング「United States of Whatever」についてお話ししましょう。
Since I've been thinking a lot about America lately, I thought I'd like to share another song about the country.
Unlike "Bored in the USA" this song is less satirical and more comical.
This time we take a look at the young generation that has no interest in rules or authority.
I think many people can relate to this feeling as a youth.
Let's talk about the comedy punk-rock song "United States of Whatever"
2002年にアメリカのミュージシャン、リアム・リンチがリリースした「United States of Whatever」は、コメディロックソングです。
この曲は彼のアルバム「Fake Songs」の最初のシングルとして使用されました。
リンチは、この曲は完全に即興で、一発で録音したと述べた。
Released in 2002 by American musician Liam Lynch, "United States of Whatever" is a comedy rock song.
The song was used as the first single off his album "Fake Songs".
Lynch stated that he completely improvised the song and recorded it in one take.
軽蔑的な「どうでもいい」で始まるこの曲は、パンクロック風に演奏されている。
若者が様々な人と出会い、それぞれが軽蔑的な「どうでもいい！」で終わる様子が描かれている。
コーラスが始まると、リンチは「ここは私のアメリカ、どうでもいい！」と歌う。
若者は警察や街のチンピラを同様に軽蔑することで、自らを危険にさらす。
若者がザフォというキャラクターに遭遇すると、この曲は終わる。
ザフォはリンチのテレビ番組「ザ・シフル・アンド・オリー・ショー」に登場する靴下人形だ。
予想に反して、靴下人形は若者の軽蔑的な態度から逃れる。
Beginning with a dismissive "whatever", the song is performed in a punk rock style.
It follows a youth as he encounters various people each ending with the dismissive "whatever!"
As the chorus begins Lynch sings "This is my United States of whatever!"
The youth even puts himself in danger by dismissing police and street thugs alike.
The song ends when the youth encounters a character named Zafo.
Zafo is a sock puppet from Lynch's TV show called The Sifl and Olly Show.
Defying expectations, the sock puppet is spared from the youth's dismissive attitude.
この曲はリリースされるとすぐにラジオ番組でリクエストされるようになり、イギリスとオーストラリアではトップ 10 チャートに登場しました。アメリカではオルタナティブ ソング部門で 34 位を記録しました。
The song started becoming highly requested on radio shows upon its release.
It even appeared in the top 10 charts in the UK and Australia.
In the United States, it peaked at 34 in the Alternative Songs category.
大ヒット曲ではないものの、この曲は当時のアメリカの若者文化を讃えた短くて面白い歌です。
曲が成功するためには、真面目なものや傑作である必要はありません。
人生の不条理さを単純に笑うことが、まさに私たちが必要としているものです。

Although not a smash hit, the song is a short and funny ode to American youth culture at the time.
