Have you ever heard of The Princess Bride?
This is a movie from 1987 which is based off of a novel written in 1973.

The movie premiered in September of 1987 to modest success.
Although well received and profitable, it was never a big hit.
Over time, it became a cult classic film, and is now considered one of the best movies from the 1980s and one of the best love stories in a movie.
In fact, it ranks number 88 in the top 100 best American love movies by the American Film Institute.
Finally, in 2016, the film was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the United States National Film Registry as being "culturally, historically or aesthetically significant".

The film begins with a boy who must stay home from school because he's feeling sick.
His parents have to go to work, so his grandfather comes to take care of him.
While in bed, his grandfather begins to read him a story.
As he reads, we see the story come to life.

The story within the movie is about a young farmhand named Westley who falls in love with a beautiful girl Buttercup.
Westley ventures out to sea to find fortune so that he may return and marry Buttercup.
Buttercup learns that Westley was attacked by pirates while at sea and presumed dead.
Five year later, Buttercup is forced into marriage by an evil prince, but is kidnapped.
She is eventually saved, but by the pirate who presumably killed Westley!
