This is Nick from Tree House English!
1月を乗り越えて2月に入りました。
私にとって、今月は最も困難な月です。
最も寒いだけでなく、自分がまだ独身であることを思い出させてくれます。
We made it through January and into February.
For me, this is the most difficult month.
Not only is it the coldest but it also serves to remind me that I'm still single!
もちろん、2月はバレンタインデーの月であることは知っています。
今月は愛の月です！
特別なチョコレートがもらえるかも知れないと毎年楽しみにしているのですが、毎年いつも「義理」です。
でも、諦めないよ！
今年の目標は結婚することです！
日本で家族を作って家を建てたいと思っています。
Of course, we know February is the month of Valentine's Day!
This is the month of love!
Every year I'm excited to see if I might get special chocolate but every year it's always "giri".
However, I won't give up!
My goal this year is to get married!
I want to start a family and build a house in Japan.
日本のバレンタインデーとアメリカのバレンタインデーが大きく異なることは多くの人が知っています。
日本では女の子が男の子にチョコレートをあげる習慣があります。
このジェスチャーは 3 月のホワイトデーに返礼されます。
しかし、アメリカにはホワイトデーはありません。
Many people know that Valentine's Day in Japan and Valentine's Day in America are very different.
In Japan, the custom is for girls to give chocolate to boys.
This gesture is then reciprocated on White Day in March.
However, there is no White Day in America.
アメリカでは通常、男性が女の子にチョコレートや花を贈るのが習慣です。
もちろん、女性も男性にプレゼントを贈るのも自由です。
カップルは一緒にディナーに出かけたり、ロマンチックなデートを楽しむこともよくあります。
The custom in America is usually for men to give chocolate or flowers to a girl.
Of course, women are also free to give gifts to men as well.
Couples will often go out to dinner together and enjoy a romantic date.
小学校ではバレンタインデーがとても楽しみです。
子どもたちはよく郵便ポストに似た箱を作ります。
小さなカードを挿入できるスロットがあります。
その後、生徒たちはお互いに特別なカードを購入するか作成します。
これらは「バレンタイン」と呼ばれます
それから順番に回って、各人の箱に入れていきます。
カードにはかわいいメッセージが書いてあることが多く、子どもたちはみんな喜んでカードを開いたり読んだりします。
In elementary school, Valentine's Day is a lot of fun.
Kids will often make a box similar to a mailbox.
There is a slot to insert small cards.
Afterward, students will either buy or make special cards for each other.
These are called "valentines"
We then go around and put them inside each person's box.
The cards will usually have a cute message and all the kids enjoy opening and reading them.
今年はこの伝統を生徒たちと共有したいと思います!
小学２年生と一緒にやってみます。
皆さんが受け取ったカードから幸せを感じていただけますように！
I want to share this tradition with my students this year!
I will try it with my elementary school 2nd-grade students.
I hope everyone can feel happiness from the cards they receive!
