He is famous around the world for his painting titled "The Great Wave off Kanagawa".

In April of 2013 a picture was posted to the popular website www.reddit.com by a user named Put_It_All_On_Red.
He used the popular photo editing software Photoshop to combines The Great Wave with Cookie Monster.
Because of how well the two images fused together, it became an internet sensation.

It was the perfect mix of parody and allusion that Cookie Monsters original creator, Jim Henson, was often known for.
The new picture was aptly titled "Sea Is For Cookie", which is a play on words, referencing the sea in the picture, the letter "c", and Cookie Monsters popular song "C Is For Cookie".
