いよいよ巨大コラボのお話です。
Its finally time for us to talk about the giant collaboration.
1970 年代半ば、マーベル コミックのプロデューサーが東宝でゴジラのクリエイターと会い、ライセンス契約について話し合いました。
マーベルがコミックでゴジラのキャラクターを使用することに合意した。
During the mid-seventies, a producer from Marvel Comics met with Godzillas creators at Toho to discuss a licensing agreement.
An agreement was struck for Marvel to use the character of Godzilla in their comic books.
1977 年 8 月から、マーベルは、ゴジラ、キング オブ モンスターズというタイトルの一連のコミックの発行を開始しました。
氷山に閉じ込められたゴジラの物語。
彼は最終的にアラスカの近くに現れ、暴れ始めます。

Starting from August of 1977 Marvel began to publish a series of comics titled Godzilla, King of the Monsters.
The story followed Godzilla, who had been trapped in an iceberg.
He eventually emerges near Alaska and starts to rampage.
From here, Godzilla begins to make his way across the United States.
He ultimately ends up in New York for a final confrontation with the Avengers.
Along the way, Godzilla fights a hoard of genetically modified monsters created by the supervillain Dr. Demonicus.
マーベル コミックで描かれているゴジラは、1954 年から 1975 年にかけての昭和時代のゴジラに基づいていました。
たとえば、ゴジラはコミックではすべて緑色です。
The Godzilla portrayed in he Marvel comics was based off of the Showa era Godzilla from 1954–75.
Some small changes to his appearance have been made, for example, Godzilla is all green in the comics.
マーベル自身によると、創刊号は 20 万部以上を売り上げ、大成功を収めました。
このシリーズは、1979 年に第 24 号で終了しました。
According to Marvel themselves, the first issue sold over 200,000 copies and was a big success.
The series concluded with its 24th issue in 1979.
シリーズは毎年マーベルにライセンスされており、インタビューによると、東宝は毎年より多くのお金を要求していました。
コミックは成功しましたが、最終的にはマーベルが制作を続けるには費用がかかりすぎました。
The series was licensed to Marvel on a year to year basis, and according to interviews, Toho would ask for more money each year.
Although the comic was successful, it eventually became too expensive for marvel to continue to produce.
物語を締めくくるには、前述のように、ゴジラはアベンジャーズグループと対決します。
彼は、アベンジャーズが倒すには強すぎることを証明しています。

To conclude the story, as mentioned above, Godzilla faces off against the Avengers group.
He proves too powerful for the Avengers to defeat.
In fact, Godzilla is seen to be too powerful for most all of the Marvel superheroes to defeat in the comic books.
ゴジラは、物語を通して彼と友情を築いた脇役によって、最終的に米国を去るよう説得されます。
最後のパネルでは、ゴジラが海に向かって歩いているのが見えます。
前号ではスパイダーマンのカメオ出演もありました。
Godzilla is eventually persuaded to leave the United States by a supporting character who built a friendship with him throughout the story.
In the final panel we see Godzilla walking off into the ocean.
There was also a cameo appearance from Spider-Man in the last issue.
このコミックは、ゴジラのアメリカ版が作成された最初の例です。
今日ではほとんど忘れられていますが、当時としては非常に成功したストーリーでした。
This comic was the first instance of an American version of Godzilla being created.
Although its largely forgotten nowadays, it was a very success story for its time.
将来的には、ゴジラがマーベル映画の世界に登場するのを見ることができるかもしれません。
Maybe in the future, we can see Godzilla enter the Marvel cinematic universe.
