Who is the most famous character during Christmas time?
Of course, the answer is Santa Claus!
He is synonymous with Christmas.
毎年、サンタは魔法の力を使って世界中を飛び回り、すべての良い子たちに喜びとプレゼントを届けます。
しかし、サンタはどのようにしてそのような偉業を達成できるのでしょうか?
実は、サンタさんは一人で活動しているわけではありません。

Every year Santa uses his magic powers to fly around the world bringing joy and presents to all good kids.
But how can Santa perform such feats?
The truth is, that Santa doesn't operate alone.
Santa has a team of helpers who work hard to support him.
Although Santa receives most of the credit, he wouldn't be able to do it without his team.
As with most great men of the world, there is a great lady supporting them behind the scenes.
This is true for Santa as well.
Today, let's talk about Mrs. Claus!

Mrs. Claus was first mentioned in the 1849 short story titled "A Christmas Legend".
She is only mentioned passingly in the phrase "old Santa Claus and his wife".
Mrs. Claus gets mentioned a few more times throughout the year, but it's not until 1887 in Good Housekeeping magazine do we get a detailed description of her.
Throughout the years, Mrs. Claus would slowly make more and more appearances around Christmas time.

In 2016 the British clothing and food company Marks & Spencer launched an ad campaign centered around a more modernized version of Mrs. Claus.
In the commercial, she receives a letter from a seven-year-old child asking for help with a gift for his sister whom he doesn't have a good relationship with.
Mrs. Claus is seen riding a snowmobile and flying a helicopter all without Santa knowing.
It's implied that she lives a secret life helping deliver the Christmas spirit.

Of course, Santa is the main character in the Christmas mythos, but it's nice to see other characters being fleshed out as well.
The truth is, I don't think Santa would be able to handle all of the responsibility of Christmas on his own.
Just as in real life, a supporting family who works together will be able to accomplish anything!
