We're not talking about the popular drink though, I want to talk about the song!
A great summer song, and somewhat of a love story!
Lets talk about Rupert Holmes' song, Escape (The Piña Colada Song).

Rupert Holmes is an British-American singer and song writer.
He started his musical career in 1969 with various successful songs.
It wouldn't be until his 5th major album, "Partners in Crime", in 1979 that we would get the song "Escape".
「Escape」は、日常的な結婚生活に飽きてしまった男性の物語です。

"Escape" is about a man who becomes bored of the routine in his marriage.
He decides to check the personal advertisement section of the newspaper and finds a woman.
The woman talks about wanting a man, specifically, a man who likes piña coladas.
When the two finally meet, the man realizes it's his wife, and the two laugh and learn that they both love each other.
この曲はリリースされるとビルボードトップ100チャートで急上昇し、1位を獲得した。
この曲の成功により、ピニャコラーダという飲み物も非常に人気になりました。
Upon it's release, the song shot up the Billboard Top 100 charts, landing at #1.
Due to the songs success, the drink piña colada also become immensely popular.
