前述したように、80年代後半から 90年代前半のアメリカでは、子供たちは任天堂に夢中でした。
マリオは群を抜いて最も人気のあるキャラクターでした。
1989 年に、スーパー マリオ ブラザーズとスーパー マリオ ブラザーズ 2 に基づいて、アメリカの視聴者向けにマリオのアニメが作成されました。
シリーズを制作したスタジオは、Sei Young Animationという韓国のスタジオです。

As I mentioned before, during the late '80s and early '90s in America, kids were crazy for Nintendo.
Mario was by far the most popular character.
In 1989 a Mario cartoon was created for American audiences based on Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. 2.
The studio that produced the series is a Korean studio named Sei Young Animation.
They also provided animation for Japanese shows like Nadia and Fist of the North Star.
アニメの前提は2つの部分に分かれています。
まず、実写セグメントがあります。
マリオとルイージは、ニューヨークのブルックリンで働く 2 人の配管工です。
これは、1980 年代後半に配管業を営んでいたことを風刺したものであり、当時のシットコムをパロディー化したものです。
The premise of the cartoon is divided into two parts.
First, there is a live-action segment.
Mario and Luigi are two plumbers working in Brooklyn, New York.
It's presented as a satire of running a plumbing business in the late 1980s and parodies sitcoms of the time.
次はアニメーション部分です。
マリオとルイージは、お風呂の排水口を修理している最中にキノコ王国に運ばれます。
きのこの王国では、ピーチ姫とキノピオがクッパ王が土地を支配するのを阻止するのを手伝っています。
アニメとゲームにはいくつかの違いがあります。たとえば、アニメでは、マリオは星に触れると火力を獲得します。
Next is the animated segment.
Mario and Luigi are transported to the Mushroom Kingdom while fixing a bathtub drain.
In the Mushroom Kingdom, they assist Princess Peach and Toad in stopping King Koopa from taking control of the land.
Some differences exist between the cartoon and the game, for example, in the cartoon, Mario gains fire powers from touching a star.
任天堂は、キャラクターデザイン以外にショーに多くのインプットを提供しませんでした。
シリーズに対する任天堂の目標は、北米でのキャラクターの認知度を高めることでした。
Nintendo didn't provide much input for the show outside of character designs.
Nintendo's goal for the series was to boost awareness for the characters in North America.
実写セグメントでは、WWF殿堂レスラー「キャプテン」ルー アルバーノがマリオを演じました。
ルイージは、カナダの俳優ダニー・ウェルズによって命を吹き込まれました。
For the live-action segments, WWF Hall of Fame wrestler "Captain" Lou Albano played Mario.
Luigi was brought to life by Canadian actor Danny Wells.
子供の頃にエピソードを見たのを覚えています。
もちろんマリオなので興味はありましたが、あまり楽しめた番組ではありませんでした。
私にとって、マリオはビデオゲームであり、他のすべては非常に異なっていると感じました。
とはいえ、番組の主題歌やエンディング曲は忘れたことはありません。

I remember watching episodes as a kid.
Of course, because it was Mario I was interested, but it was never a show that I really enjoyed much.
For me, Mario was the video game, and everything else felt so different.
However, I will say that I never forgot the theme song or ending song of the show.
It was a Mario rap to start the show and a Mario dance to finish it.
Let's take a moment to enjoy this piece of Mario history, and maybe something Nintendo wishes they could erase from existence lol
