その後、劇作家でありミュージシャンであるリン＝マニュエル・ミランダについてお話しました。
今日は、リン＝マニュエル・ミランダのミュージカル『ハミルトン』についてお話ししましょう！

Today, let's talk about Lin-Manuel Miranda's musical, Hamilton!
前述の通り、この公演は2004年に出版されたロン・チャーノ著『アレキサンダー・ハミルトン』をベースにしています。
2008年から2015年までの7年間にわたり、ミランダによって書かれました。
もともとはヒップホップのコンセプトアルバムとして始まったが、徐々にミュージカルパフォーマンスへと変貌を遂げ始めた。
As stated before, the performance is based on the 2004 book Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow.
It was written by Miranda over a seven-year period from 2008 to 2015.
Originally it began as a hip-hop concept album, but slowly began transforming into a musical performance.
物語はもちろん、アメリカ建国の父アレクサンダー・ハミルトンの生涯を描いている。
ネイビス島での幼少期から、アメリカ独立戦争への参加、建国の父や財務長官としての関わり、そして最終的にはアーロン・バーとの決闘で亡くなるまで、その生涯を振り返ります。
The story, of course, follows the life of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton.
From his early child on the island of Nevis, his participation in the American Revolution, his involvement as a Founding Father and Secretary of the Treasury, and ultimately his death in a duel with Aaron Burr.
このミュージカルは、ヒップホップ文化に大きく影響され、白人以外の俳優がアメリカ建国の父やその他の歴史上の人物に扮しています。
ミランダは、ハミルトンを「今のアメリカが語る、当時のアメリカ」と表現しています。
The musical in heavily inspired by hip-hop culture and casts non-white actors as the Founding Fathers of the United States and other historical figures.
Miranda described Hamilton as about "America then, as told by America now."
オフ・ブロードウェイで上演されると、すぐに成功を収め、ドラマ・デスク賞8部門を受賞しました。
ブロードウェイのリチャード・ロジャース劇場に移った後は、さらに成功を収め、即完売し、記録的な16のノミネートとベストミュージカルを含む11の賞を受賞した。
Upon it's release off-Broadway it was an immediate success and won eight Drama Desk Awards.
After moving to the Richard Rodgers Theatre on Broadway it saw even more success, selling out immediately, and receiving a record-breaking 16 nominations and winning 11 awards, including Best Musical.
この劇の成功により、アレクサンダー・ハミルトンやアメリカの歴史に対する人気が急上昇しました。
7年経った今でもその人気は衰えず、つい昨年にはDisney+で鑑賞することができるようになりました。
The success of the play caused a surge in popularity for Alexander Hamilton and American history.
Even 7 years later the play remains popular, and just last year, can be viewed on Disney+.
日本版は存在しませんが、アメリカ公演の曲を紹介したいと思います。
