ご存知のように、日本のアニメは世界中で人気があります。
私が子供の頃、多くの人はアニメを知りませんでした。

As you know, Japanese anime is popular around the world.
When I was a kid, many people weren't aware of anime.
Most people didn't know it originated in Japan.
But anime was being brought to American audiences since the 1960s!

Today, I want to focus on a show from the early 90s.
This particular show is about cats and pizza!
Have you ever heard of Samurai Pizza Cats?
Probably not, but you might be familiar with the Japanese title Kyatto Ninden Teyandee (キャッ党忍伝てやんでえ).
1990年2月から1991年にかけて日本で放送され、1991年にサバン・エンタテインメントによって海外に持ち込まれた。
サバン・エンターテイメントは、以前にパワーレンジャーのディスカッションで言及したのと同じ会社です。
買収後、サバンは番組に関する情報をほとんど受け取りませんでした。
サバンがショーのために新しいセリフを書き、コメディのようなドタバタに変え、多くのアメリカのポップカルチャーのジョークと言及が全体にあることが決定されました。
Originally airing in Japan from February of 1990 to 1991, it was brought overseas by Saban Entertainment in 1991.
Saban Entertainment is the same company we mentioned previously in our Power Rangers discussion.
Upon acquisition, Saban received very little information about the show, and what little translations they had were of poor quality.
It was decided that Saban would write new dialogue for the show, transforming it into a slapstick like comedy, with many American pop-culture jokes and references throughout.

The original 54 episode run was heavily edited and trimmed down to 52 episodes.
Of the 52 episodes, some were also never aired due to censorship restrictions on American broadcasts.
All of the original music of the series was also replaced with music created by Saban.
The show was never a big success, nor was it a failure.
It became a cult classic among fans.
In 2013, the original Japanese version as well as the English version were released on DVD, and later Blu-Ray.
